Basic IT literacy Skills
Basic IT literacy skills refers to skills required to operate at the user level a graphical operating system environment such as Microsoft Windows or Linux Ubuntu, preforming basic operating commands such as launching as application, copying and pasting information, using menus, windows and peripheral devices such as mouse and keyboard. Additionally, users should be familiar with internet browsers, search engines, page navigation and forms.
All students must have access to a PC Desktop/Laptop or a MAC Desktop/Laptop.
Laptop Suggestion
Any PC laptop running Windows 7 or Windows 10; must have minimum 4 GB ram (8GB recommended); wireless network adapter; physical or USB RJ45 network adapter (should include MS Office)
Apple MAC: any MacBook running latest release of OS 10; minimum 8 GB RAM; wireless network adapter; USB RJ45 network adapter (should include MS Office)
Special Note
Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple all have student discount programs. Students can go online, go to BestBuy or the Apple Store to consider discounts and leasing programs (may require student ID)
Internet Connection - REQUIRED
Students are responsible to have their own internet connection available. This can be via Wi-Fi or via a hardwired connection.
Many classes and labs have online content that will need to be accessed from time to time.
Software
Any special software required will be noted at registration time. Most software will be available via free download; special software will be provided at highly discounted cost through the school.
Books
A list of books for each class will be provided. All books are readily available from Amazon, and will be the responsibility of the student to procure the books before class begins.
Students can purchase new or used books, ebook or kindle versions or rent the book for the semester. Students can consult amazon.com for the previously mentioned options.
