About the Internet of Things (IoT) Program
The Nevada Technology Academy IoT program has been designed to provide students with a broad, multi-disciplinary education to enable them to capture high paying entry jobs in the fast growing IoT industry in Nevada. The program has been vetted and supported by a significant list of the top IoT and Cyber Security companies in Nevada.
Internet of Things (IoT) Certificate - Software
The IoT Software program contains hands-on curriculum appropriate for ensuring a
skilled workforce in software for IoT device companies. The IOT Software programmer
will be qualified to work in Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and industries utilizing IoT
Technologies in their processes or products.
Program Outcomes:
- Students will learn fundamentals of computers, networking and security to better enable them to use software development tools and platforms.
- Provides the student with understanding of use of an IDE development environment
- Provides the student with a broad background in the software aspects of the IOT industry including software and web development skills; basic controller skills with Raspberry Pi and Arduino
- Students will be able to develop software that communicates with various devices and sensors and can be imbedded on typical controllers for IoT applications

Internet of Things (IoT) Certificate - Hardware
The IoT Hardware program contains hands-on curriculum appropriate for ensuring a
skilled workforce in hardware for IoT device companies. The IOT hardware Specialist
will be qualified to work in Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and industries utilizing IoT
Technologies in their processes or products.
Program Outcomes:
- Provides the student with a broad background in all phases of the IOT industry including basic Computer, networking and security skills; electronics skills; test and measurement, bread boarding and light fabrication/shop skills including 3D printing
- Students will have an understanding of active and passive components, solid state devices, integrated circuits and digital logic.
- Students will learn sensor fundamentals and work with controllers like Raspberry Pi and Arduino
- Students will learn the use and application of PLC’s /PLR’s in industrial and factory automation
- Students will learn to work with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud platforms for IoT
